Could we be welcoming our British guests back soon?

The Prime Minister has confirmed the Government plans to introduce quarantine-free travel from amber list countries to the UK for fully vaccinated people.

A formal announcement from the Transport Secretary is expected later this week.

Although Turkey is currently on the ‘red’ list we are hoping that it could go amber by the end of the month, meaning it will also be accessible.

The Government is reviewing the traffic-light system every three weeks.

That means the next announcement should come on Thursday 15 July, with any changes coming into effect the following week.

Turkey headlines the list of countries that could move to the amber list.

It has recently recorded 42 infections per 100,000 people over the last seven days – well below a number of amber list countries – and cases have been falling since mid-April.

Around 20 percent of the adult population is fully vaccinated.
